Privacy Policy

16MM is made by Everyone OnThree, LLC. This policy describes how the iPhone app, website and Look Studio handle your photos, videos, Film projects, imported sound, preferences and shared Looks. For support or privacy questions, contact hello@16mm.app.

Your camera and media

16MM processes photos and develops videos on your device. Original captures, processed photos and videos, and editing recipes are stored locally for viewing, recovery and changing a Look. The app does not upload your images, videos or recorded audio to us for processing. You do not need an account.

Camera permission enables photo and video capture. Microphone permission is used when you enable video sound, which is off by default. Device motion supports the horizon level. 16MM does not request location access.

Apple Photos

With permission, 16MM saves processed photos, developed videos, printed frames and Film exports to Photos. Film exports are not saved automatically. Choose Download after exporting to save a copy to Photos. Saving requests add-only access. Broader access is requested when you delete an item with a linked Photos copy. If you have already granted full access, the app can also check whether its linked copies still exist and organize saves in the 16MM album.

Photos copies, iCloud Photos and Apple backups follow your Apple settings and Apple's policies. These services are separate from local app storage.

Films and imported sound

Making a Film copies the photos and videos you choose from Library into a local project, along with available originals and editing recipes. The project keeps its name, clip order, edits and sound settings on your device. Film editing, playback preparation and export happen on your device. We do not receive your Film projects or their media for processing.

If you add sound, the iOS Files picker gives 16MM access to the audio file you select. The app copies that file into the Film and keeps its filename to identify it. It does not modify the file at its original location. If you choose a file from a cloud provider, that provider handles access and any download under its own settings and policies.

Export creates a finished movie for saving or sharing. It does not send a copy to us or back up the editable Film project. Temporary previews, prepared playback and export files may be cleared when they are no longer needed.

Local storage and deletion

Camera settings, Library albums, Library Favorites and Film projects stay on your device. Saved Looks, custom Studio assets, Look pins and selected preferences also stay local unless you enable iCloud Sync. Albums and Library Favorites organize local photos and videos; they do not create a cloud library. The app keeps local photos, videos and Film projects until you delete them or remove the app. Original captures and recipes may remain while another version or unfinished processing uses them. Temporary processing files and previews may be cleared when no longer needed.

Deleting an item with a linked Photos copy first asks iOS to delete that copy. The local item is removed only after that succeeds. Denying access or canceling preserves the local item. Other Photos copies, printed frames, exports and copies shared elsewhere are not removed by this action.

Films own separate media copies. Deleting a Library item does not delete copies already added to a Film. Deleting a Film removes its local project and copied media, including imported sound, without deleting the original Library items or copies saved to Photos or shared elsewhere. Media removed from a Film can remain in its local project files until you delete the Film.

Removing the app can remove its local files. 16MM excludes local capture media and Film project folders from device backup where the system accepts that setting. Keep a Photos or exported copy of finished pictures and movies you want to preserve. An exported movie does not preserve an editable Film project, and local app storage is not a backup service.

iCloud Sync

iCloud Sync is optional and off by default. When enabled, 16MM stores saved Looks, their names, descriptions, covers and creative settings, required custom Studio assets, Look pins and selected preferences in your private iCloud database. Apple provides this service through your iCloud account, and the data uses your available iCloud storage.

Synced preferences include viewfinder guides, Record button color, Tool Icons and picture gesture assignments.

Photos, videos, original captures, Library albums, Library Favorites, Film projects and their copied media or imported sound are not included in iCloud Sync. Active camera settings and permissions stay on each device. Browser Look Studio drafts and reference images are not included.

Turning sync off stops sending and receiving updates and keeps copies already on your device and in iCloud. Deleting a synced Look removes it from other devices participating in sync. iCloud availability, transfer timing and storage follow your Apple settings and Apple's policies.

Sharing Looks and media

Sharing uses the iOS share sheet and the app or recipient you choose. Sharing a Film export sends the finished movie, not its editable project. Recipients and sharing services can keep their own copies. A shared Look link contains its name, description, portable creative settings and any included cover design. Anyone with the link can read, import or forward them. A Look link does not contain your photos, videos or the receiving person's camera setup.

Look links use look.16mm.app and our web hosting provider. Opening a link or fetching its preview can send the shared URL, including its Look name, description and creative settings, and ordinary web-request information to that provider. Sharing apps, recipients and web hosts handle copies under their own settings and policies.

Website hosting

Cloudflare hosts our website, documentation, Look Studio and Look-link previews. Cloudflare receives ordinary request information, such as your IP address, browser details and requested URL, to deliver and protect the service.

Our Cloudflare application request logs are disabled. Cloudflare may still collect security and network diagnostics. A Look URL can include the shared name, description, creative settings and cover design. Cloudflare handles this information under its own privacy policy.

Look Studio

Look Studio is a browser editor that does not need an account. Reference photos and Look edits are processed in your browser; your photo is not uploaded to us. When storage is available, the browser may keep your latest draft and reference image locally for recovery. You can clear them through your browser settings. Shared Look links keep your creative settings, name and description, without your reference photo or footage. Where supported, they can also include an optional cover design.

Suggest Looks analyzes your reference image in your browser. It downloads a scene-analysis model and runtime from our website and may cache the model locally for later use. Your reference image and its analysis stay on your device and are not uploaded to us for suggestions.

Opening Studio, loading supplied references or downloading the suggestion model sends ordinary web-request information to the website host. Studio decodes pasted Look links locally. Sending a Look link or opening it on look.16mm.app shares its encoded name, description, creative settings and any cover design with the recipients, sharing apps and web hosts involved.

Looks from Studio need a compatible version of 16MM. Opening the website does not update the installed app.

Send feedback

Send feedback in Settings prepares a message to hello@16mm.app using your email app. You can add screenshots or videos you choose. Optional app details include the app version, device model, iOS version, selected lens, frame size, frame rate and a recent issue category. View details shows exactly what will be included; turn off Include app details to leave them out.

Review the draft before sending. If Mail is not set up, you can share the report through another app or copy the support address. Nothing is sent automatically. Your email or sharing provider handles delivery, and we receive only what you send.

Your choices and contact

You can change camera, microphone and Photos permissions in iOS Settings and delete Library items, Film projects and saved Looks in the app. Copies outside the app must be managed where they were saved or shared.

If you send us a support message, we receive the details and attachments you choose to provide and use them to respond. Send only what is needed. Contact hello@16mm.app to ask privacy questions or request deletion of information you sent us.

Policy updates

We will update this page when privacy practices in the app, website or Studio change. The date above identifies the latest revision.
