Exposure and guides

Set the light, then watch the picture.

Aperture and EV

In Video, APERTURE adjusts the light automatically. Drag its dial to hold an f-stop. Hold Aperture to return to your reset choice, which starts at Auto.

Use EV to make the picture brighter or darker, from −2 to +2 in one-third-stop steps. Light Meter shows how the exposure compares with its target: negative is below, positive is above. It stays live while you edit a Look. Unavailable means there is no reading.

Use ND in bright light

ND reduces light. Choose Neutral or the warmer 85, then set its strength up to ten stops. None clears the filter and turns off its strength control.

You control ND. Auto aperture keeps your choice.

Photo shutter speed

In Photo, Shutter replaces FPS. Choose Auto or a manual duration supported by the selected camera. The fastest choice is 1/1000 second where supported; unavailable durations are hidden. Each mode remembers its own timing choice.

Choosing a manual shutter or adjusting Aperture holds both exposure controls. Changing shutter speed then changes light as well as movement blur. You can still adjust Aperture, ND or EV. Watch the picture and light meter as you adjust. With the default Numbers appearance on the compact tool icon, AE means automatic exposure, 71 means 1/71 second, 1000 means 1/1000 second and 1″ means one second. The shutter tray and VoiceOver use explicit fractions or seconds; the picker calls automatic exposure Auto. Choose Auto to return both shutter and Aperture to automatic exposure. Holding Shutter applies your Photo shutter reset choice, which starts at Auto.

Camera color and Video shutter

In Video, camera white balance adjusts automatically while framing, then holds steady through the Take. Auto resumes after the recording finishes. Use a Look’s Temperature to make its color warmer or cooler.

Video shutter is automatic, with a fixed 180-degree request. In bright light, the camera may need a shorter exposure.

Viewfinder guides

Tap the Viewfinder button to choose Grid, Center Mark, Level or Light Meter. Guides help you frame and stay out of saved videos and photos. Level turns green when aligned.

Hold the Viewfinder button to turn its guides off.
