Motor and Film Flash
Change how movement feels while shooting Video.
Change the pace
In Video, open FPS, titled Frames Per Second. The presets are 4, 12, 24, 36, 48, 60 and 120. You’ll only see those your chosen Lens and frame size support. Use the dial for other supported speeds.
You can change speed during a Take. Changing FPS keeps your chosen Lens and frame size. Every developed video Take plays at 24 FPS. In Photo, this tool controls shutter speed.
| Control | What it does |
|---|---|
| Below 24 FPS | Fast motion. At 4 FPS, movement plays 6× faster. |
| 24 FPS | Real-time movement. |
| Above 24 FPS | Slow motion. At 36 FPS, movement plays 1.5× slower; at 120, 5× slower. |
Make a Film Flash
During a Take, tap Flash for a brief flare and shift in movement, or hold for a longer effect. Release to end it. It affects the picture and leaves the phone flashlight off. Your capture FPS stays the same; the effect is added during development.
In Settings → Film Flash, Default means the starting settings are in use and Custom means they have changed. Turn At start of each Take and At end of each Take on or off. Both start on. Flash intensity sets every flash from 25–150% and starts at 100%. Use Reset Film Flash to restore these defaults.
When a video Take has sound
Record sound is off by default. In Video, turn it on in Settings and allow microphone access when asked.
To keep sound, record the whole Take at 24 FPS without a manual Flash tap or hold. Any speed other than 24 FPS or a manual Flash makes the finished Take silent. Automatic start and end flashes can keep sound. If the microphone is unavailable, Settings explains why and keeps your preference.
